I would highly recommend this, although maybe not for a total beginner due to the Length/width. Being stainless steel the smoothness and weight really help insertion and the undulations feel great. Specially when moved in and out. The cross shape is a good griping point/stopper. Something I always look out for as a relative newbie to sounding.

My first comment would be, don't run before you can walk. This type of play is not easy to do safely without proper care and attention. While the item may look unsuspecting by the pictures, it would be way too large to somebody who has no or little experience in sounding.
