Lovehoney Plus Size Moonflower Purple Lace Strappy Basque Set

Lovely... stunning actually

I was lucky enough to have been chosen to review this item - thank you, Lovehoney. It arrived quickly in the standard plain box that Lovehoney always sends its items out in so safe from prying eyes (in case you're worried about family members or the postie raising their eyebrows). Inside the box was a plain cellophane bag that was holding the most beautiful, delicate piece of lingerie I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. The colour is a rich plum that looks expensive and sophisticated and the fabric is a soft, non-scratchy lace with a fine stretch mesh. The basque itself is constructed to flatter with the lace panels suggesting an hourglass curve and the Vs front and back exposing cleavage in front and drawing the eye to your bottom in the back. The straps give it that extra touch of sexiness. The matching G-string put a smile on my face as, for once, the waistband is made of a wider-than-normal band usually found in this type of set (so won't twist or cut in) and matches decorative banding on the body of the basque. The bands are adjustable at the back and are both decorative and supportive. A godsend for anyone like me who's carrying a few extra pounds that they're conscious of and/or has a heavier bust that might need some support. The band at the waist adds to the hourglass effect and the G-string band accentuates the curve of the hips. The mesh smooths any lumps or bumps. The suspender straps are also adjustable and removable. There are no bones or hooks and eyes with this basque, you just pull it on. This can be useful for people who may have a problem with their hands or don't like the restriction of boning. Despite this being such a beautiful piece I was a bit disappointed to see that it wasn't underwired. All my underwear/lingerie is underwired as I'm rather tall and busty but with a wide ribcage. I have a pretty wide-set cleavage that I've never been fond of since my ex pointed it out to me decades ago (and I was young and impressionable enough to listen!). As a result, I've always bought underwired items as they do give me more of a "sexy oomph" look. Anyway, I adjusted the straps and pulled the basque on. I looked in the mirror expecting to be a little disappointed but, wow! I was genuinely taken aback that I looked so good (and I'm my biggest critic)! The shaping of the lace, the smoothing effect of the mesh, the pretty lace cups (unpadded, a tad small and a little see-through) and most of all, the straps that cross over the cleavage that actually made me look like I have a nice cleavage. Some basques and bras I've tried have the decorative straps sewn into the wrong place so they don't flatter. However, the little straps on this are in exactly the right place to enhance. I love that I can change the whole look by just taking the suspender straps off. With them on with a pair of stockings, the basque is sexy. With them off it's more delicate and almost demure-looking. I'd had the basque several days before my partner came home and was able to give his opinion. I'd decided to go "demure-ish" and greeted him wearing just the basque and an open robe. It was the first time I've seen him speechless - though his face said it all. Sometime later I asked him what he thought of it. I'd wondered if he'd noticed the lack of underwiring but he said he hadn't. Just that he thought it was lovely... stunning actually and then asked if it had cost a lot. As a review item I don't know what it cost but I'd pay it whatever as my partner honestly thought I'd bought it from a lingerie shop in town that only sells expensive items! For reference, I'm an 18/20 in most items with a 38DD/E bust. I usually buy a 1X/2X in Lovehoney lingerie. This little set is so gorgeous. The design, fabric, details and colour - absolutely everything is spot-on. Love it!

Lovely and super sexy

I want to say a huge thank you to Lovehoney for sending me this set out in exchange for an honest review. This set is a beautifully rich purple hue. I was really excited to see what the couple looked like against the skin as I have found this type of tone looks good against my fair skin. Holding it out of its packing it looked okay and didn’t seem to special. However, this is definitely a price that looks a lot better on. I absolutely loved the floral leash on the breasts with and extra ribbon of material framing each breast. This was very pleasing to the eye. The straps are adjustable to get that perfect fit. The back is the next best part. There are strings of material creating a cross and two stretchy straps that are adjustable for the perfect fit. All of this creates a lovely effect. The bands that run around the basque hit my curves in the most pleasing way and by adjusting the straps at the back emphasised the curves of my body. It’s the attention to detail that makes this such a wonderful set. It’s the things like the customisable fit via the straps and the metal suspender attachments. I felt wonderfully sexy In this set. When added with a pair of stockings this really was sexy and comfortable. I would highly recommend this set to anyone. It’s so beautiful on and made me feel confident and sexy. Would highly recommend washing this by hand so as not to damage the materials.

Strappy sexy fun

Basques are something I’ve looked at in the past but never purchased so when I was asked to test this one and provide a review I was really excited. Firstly the colour is amazing, you can’t help but stare at it, it’s a dark rich purple that oozes sexiness. When I first got the basque out the packet it looked like a complicated pile of straps and I was a little concerned that I was going to have trouble, however, once you have it laid out it’s suddenly not as scary! It features lace cups that blend into a matching lace panel running down the middle at the front. It has two straps that run across the basque, the first sits below the breasts and the second across the stomach. Both these straps are adjustable at the back meaning you can easily adjust the tightness to fit your needs. To the sides are sheer panels that help cover those lumps and bumps I don’t like on my stomach! The back is made of the same sheer material with the centre cut out except for the adjustable straps mentioned earlier. The shoulder straps are adjustable and rather than being directly attached, they hook onto some strappy loops which gives a really nice look that’s a bit different. At the bottom, there are removable suspender straps which easily attach onto a pair of stockings or can be taken off easily. I’m a 38C and approximately a dress size 18-20 and I found with some small adjustments it fitted nicely and was comfortable. The included knickers are a basic thong design, the waistband is a plain satin strip and the main part of the knickers start as the satin material and then goes into a lace material that matches the cups on the basque. There are no adjustments but they fitted nicely and were fairly comfortable. Overall, I am happy with my first basque experience and I feel it looked really sexy once on and my husband certainly liked the look.

Pretty in purple

I’ll be honest, I’ve always struggled to find lingerie that shows off my small waist. I’m an ‘extreme’ hourglass from years of corset training which means the ratio of my waist to my breasts and hips is almost impossible to clothe without getting big bunches around my middle. So you’d think something like the strappy moonflower bra set would be absolutely perfect, highlighting my waist but still stretchy in the bits that it matters. How did it fair? Generally good, I’d say. Firstly, my measurements: I’m an 18/20 on top but a 24/26 on the bottom, 40 DD/E bust, and 5’6’’ in height. The fit was decent but could be slightly improved. In terms of length, this was quite long on me but I like that because it covered my tummy completely so I think taller people could wear this quite comfortably. If you have bigger breasts than I do, however, I might avoid this. My boobs kept popping out just wearing it around the house and in truth I had no real support from it. The thong fit fine though it isn’t crotchless so you can’t really wear it during the act. My biggest issue, however, was that the middle waist strap really did nothing for my figure. It felt like it dug in and highlighted my fat rolls rather than show off my waist. I noticed I was sucking in my gut while I was wearing it which isn’t exactly what you want from lingerie. You kind of need a flat stomach to make this work for you which sadly I definitely don't have. In terms of design, I love the strappy look. They’ve beautifully paired the pretty lace with the sexy, almost kinky, straps on the front and back. The back is just as sexy as the front it has to be said. The colour is pretty and different, though it was a bit of a nightmare trying to find stockings that looked good with it. I eventually opted for white, which gave a cute overall look. Basically, I like this. It’s not my favourite and there are clearly some design flaws but I was very comfortable in it and I’ll wear it again. I think if you’re taller this will definitely be a good option to give a go. Also, it’s just nice to have something a bit different from the standard lingerie looks for plus size.

Liked, but not loved

This colour is lush, purple is such a welcomed change from the traditional black/blue/red/white items, which are typically found. Thank you Lovehoney for giving the panties thicker straps! These sit much nicer, compared to the thinner strap ones. Really liked these. I like the fit of this. I'm 5ft 11 and found it was plenty long enough. Also, the suspender straps were long enough and could be easily adjusted. The waistband is grand. It sits so well on me! I'm not totally convinced of the band that sits under the boobs. The combo of these two makes the bit in between almost look a little bit bulged. I've got 36D boobs, size 14 on the top and 16/18 on the bottom. I would worry that this may not fit the full size range because of the banding. Apart from that, I actually really like this.

I had so many issues, was really looking forward to wearing this one, and I couldn't get it on! I'm a size 12-14 everything else I had brought fit very well. I need to have smaller hips and shoulders for the one size 8-16. I was looking forward to being sexy and gorgeous and I didn't get a chance :(

Not so good

This item arrived in the post I opened the box the item was good quality however it is way too small. this item is a one size fits all. But I'm a size 14 and when I tried it on it was way too small so it's definitely not one size fits all it would only fit people who are sizes 8-12

I've bought many items in the last few months from LH, and this was a happy addition. This item arrived in a discrete box (so no awkward moments with the delivery driver lol) and individual packaging. Getting it on and off can be tricky with the straps, but i liked the way it hugged my body and worth the effort! The thin straps showing at the front of my outfit was alluring as a chamise. Overall great little piece to wear as a chamise (or with suspenders) and comfortable.

Lovely but too tight

I was very excited to receive this but unfortunately I was disappointed. Although the straps are adjustable, which is great, I just found they were still too tight. It basically cut me in half at the stomach. I do have a soft stomach but just didn't expect it to be that unflattering.
