Love these
Rated 10 / 10

I was a bit dubious at how a vegan condom can perform when compared with my usual favourite of Skyn, but these I must say, work amazingly! Me and my partner love them, for anal or vaginal sex. I’m quite vigorous and these had no breakages and no leaks. They fit well, lube well and are very comfortable for both of us. They are practically perfect other than the one option available. Hopefully sometime soon Fair Squared will do ribbed/dotted?

Is vegan better?
Rated 10 / 10

We have used non-vegan condoms in the past out of necessity but I prefer to use vegetarian/vegan essentials where possible, so I was really grateful to get the chance to try these out in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Lovehoney! The box arrived quickly and I was pleased with the presentation. It's a nice change to see a company use a clean simplistic design and minimal colouring on their condom packaging as usually the boxes are garish and scream out contraception. It offers up the necessary information regarding Fairtrade as well as basic facts such as how the condoms should be stored. There's a leaflet inside with further information about how to place the condoms on properly and how to dispose after use. My partner and I don't use condoms on a regular basis, as we don't need to, but there are certain occasions where condoms are essential. I've recently had a couple of courses of antibiotics that interfere with my pill, so we needed to use condoms to be on the safe side. We usually opt for Skins, as I've had reactions to Durex and Mates in the past, but now that we've tried these, we won't be going back to any of them. Not only are they vegan friendly (yay, no animal products or cruelty) and Fairtrade (yay, fair working/trading conditions) they also have a few practical things going for them. For starters, these don't have the strong scent of rubber that I've become accustomed to from Durex and Mates, but rather a pleasant odour that's reminiscent of vanilla. Secondly, the fit is great. My partner is on the larger side but he found no issues with stretching the latex to accommodate himself. He said that the condom felt tight enough to be secure, but not so tight that it was digging into the skin or restricting his blood flow. He also mentioned that they are well-lubricated which aided application for him and penetration for me. We usually have to add some extra lube to condoms to be comfortable but haven't needed to do that with these yet. And finally, they are durable. Some of the extra thin condoms we've tried have torn easily or felt as though they were going to, but these are robust. I haven't been worried about them breaking during use and it seems that I don't need to, as we haven't had one break out of the six we've used so far. If I needed to use condoms frequently as a reliable method of contraception, I would be comfortable using these, although I think a bigger pack would be better value in that scenario.

My boyfriend loves these. We have used Durex ones and he says he can’t feel much, but these are much better. Plus we always support fair trade where possible and stay away from as many chemical things as possible. Nice to know there are no animal products in these. Like the other person mentioned, they’re not really smelly or anything.

Nice That They're Vegan, But Otherwise Average

If you're specifically looking for vegan condoms, then rejoice, because here they are. If not, however, there are much better options out there. My wife and I have been using condoms for years, and I can confidently state that in this time I have tried pretty much every type going! It's a good way to add a bit of intrigue and variety when using an item that many view as intrusive and detracting from the sexual experience. With this in mind, therefore, I didn't feel that these condoms felt as thin as they were made out to be. The sensation was still good, and I've tried far worse, but I wouldn't rank them in my top 10. So far as fit was concerned, they were fine and it's only if you're particularly less well endowed or are seeking a tighter fit (as some do) that these might not be for you. The smell, unfortunately, was also quite strong; I would describe it as the more 'traditional' odour that you can expect from a condom but over the years several other manufacturers have managed to either improve upon or eliminate entirely. I'm unsure as a result whether this is a consequence of them being vegan or whether the makers have just decided to adopt a more standard approach. All in all, by all means get them if veganism is an important aspect of your lifestyle, otherwise, in my opinion, there are much better varieties to be had.

I'm not vegan so didn't buy these for any reason other than I thought I'd give them a try. The first thing I noticed was that they are indeed very thin! Putting it on wasn't a problem and it felt fine once on but it split. Now, perhaps I hadn't used enough lube so there was too much friction but it was enough to put me off using them again. Maybe I should have given them another go with lots more lube.
